    Who can enter?

    The competition is open to residents of Queensland, Australia.

    Is there an entry fee?

    No, entry is free.

  • 03

    What mediums of artwork can I submit?

    You can submit original physical visual artworks across a wide range of mediums, including painting, drawing and mixed media. Digital-only artworks are not included at this stage.

    Can I submit more than one artwork?

    Yes, you may submit more than one artwork. Each entry must be submitted separately.

    How do I submit my artwork?

    All artworks are submitted digitally via the entry form. You will be asked to upload images of your work along with a short artist statement.

    How many images can I upload for my submission?

    You may upload up to 10 images for each artwork submitted. These can include different angles, details, or close-ups to help the judges fully experience your work.

    When do entries close?

    Entries close Sunday, 12 July 2026 at 11:59pm AEST

    How are winners selected?

    The John D. Bowe Art Prize honours a single artwork - one that most powerfully and meaningfully responds to the spirit of Queensland and its people - with an award of $50,000.

    Who are the judges?

    The judging panel will be announced on the website shortly.

    Is there a public voting component?

    No, this is a judged competition only.

    When will winners be announced?

    The winner will be announced Wednesday 30th July at 175 Eagle Street, Brisbane CBD.

    What if I'm shortlisted, and cannot come to the event?

    If you are shortlisted but unable to attend the announcement event, you will still be eligible to win. All shortlisted artists will be contacted in advance, and winner will be notified directly following the event.
